About Dwarkadhish Temple

Dwarkadhish Temple ((King of Dwaraka) is at Dwaraka in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat, India. It is also known as Jagat mandir or Jagat Temple.

This temple is a very sacred temple for Hindus. It is believed that Lord Krishna (Sri Krishna) came to this place from Mathura and stayed here for the majority of his lifetime. Dwarka means “gateway to heaven“.

Saint Adi Sankaracharya also established Dwarka Sharada Math alias Shri Shardapeeth or Shri Sharda Peeth. The objective behind this math was to preserve and propagate Sanatana Dharma and Advaita Vedanta. It is about 650 meters from the Dwarkadhish Temple alias Dwarka Temple.
