Taj-ul-Masajid is the largest Mosque in India. It is situated at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh state. The mosque’s name means Crown of Mosques. Taj-ul-Masajid is a Sunni Muslim mosque. It can accommodate 1.75 lack (0.175 million) people.
Taj-ul-Masajid mosque prayer hall is situated on the first floor. The mosque is a mixture of Indo-Islamic architecture and Mughal architecture. Mughal architecture takes precedence over Indo-Islamic architecture. There is a large water tank in the center of the courtyard.

Nawab Shah Jahan Begum started the construction of the Mosque more than two centuries back. After she died in 1901, her daughter, Sultan Jahan Begum, continued the construction until her death. Then, the construction was stopped due to lack of funds until 1971. The Emir of Kuwait donated motifs from 13th-century Syrian mosques, which were used to renovate the entrance in 1971.
There are around 1000 shops on the ground floor. Hindus, Muslims, and Jains run these shops for more than eight to ten generations. Hindus and Jains offer prayers to their gods inside their shops, which are below the Mosque’s prayer hall.
