Khopoli Hill Station

Khopoli Hill Station is situated in between Mumbai and Pune, located close to the Mumbai – Pune National Highway. It is a weekend getaway destination for the residents of Mumbai, Pune, and nearby city residents.

Rajmachi Killa or Rajmachi Fort

Trekking to Rajmachi fort or Rajmachi killa (killa means fort in the local langage) is a major activity here. This ancient historic fort was once the stronghold of Maratha Kingdom. It consists of two fortresses; Shriwardhan and Manaranjan. There is a wide plateau surrounding these two fortresses.

Rajmachi Killa or fort is a protected monument. It was the sight of the first Anglo-Maratha War between the British East India Company and Maratha Empire. The British were totally defeated in this war.

Udhewadi village with a small population just 60 families is the base station to this fort, at the southern foot of the fort.

Imagicaa Theme Park at Khopoli

One of the main attractions for any tourist to Khopoli hills is the Imagicaa theme park. It can be considered as the best theme park in India. It has got many first’s to its credit.

Imagicaa is spread over 130 acres of land. It can accommodate 15,000 visitors per day!

Imagicaa Management Change

Imagicaa World Entertainment, earlier known as Adlabs Entertainment which owns the theme park, changed hands in 2022 due to a debt restructuring plan. Imagicaa was taken over by the Malpani Group. Imagicaa became the fourth amusement park owned by the Malpani group. The group already owns and operates two ‘Wet N Joy‘ water theme parks at Lonavala and Shirdi. They also have India’s first devotional theme park at Sai Teerth at Shirdi.

Tungarli Lake and Tungarli Dam

Tungarli Lake is yet another major attraction at this hill station. This picturesque lake has got calm blue waters. Tungarli Dam supplies water to this lake. This dam was build in the 1930’s. Tungarli dam is the main source of water for some of the nearby hill stations,

You will get an unparalleled view of the Sahyadri range of mountains from the lake side. You need to trek a short distance to reach the Tungarli lake. On your way to the top, There are street vendors selling snacks and food items. Lohagad Fort can be seen from here.

Other attractions

Tiger’s leap viewpoint give a memorizing view of the Eastern ghats. Khopoli waterfall is a major tourist attraction in the hill station.

When are You Going to Khopoli Hills?

Khopoli Hills is a budget friendly location and is not crowded, unlike may of the other nearby hill stations.

Lonavala hills is another hill station on the same Mumba- Pune highway side, that is close to the Khopoli hill station. Khopoli to Mumbai distance is 70 kilometers and normally takes one and a half hours to cover this distance by car.
