Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Tamil Nadu state, India. It was declared as a protected area in 2008 and later enlarged the area in 2011.  It is in the Erode District of Tamil Nadu state.

There are around 135 species of Birds in Satyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary and this wildlife sanctuary is ideal for bird watching. Indian Endangered species Gyps Vulture and 3 other near-extinct Vulture species are found in this Wildlife Sanctuary. Satyamanagalam forests are an ideal Indian weekend getaway place for people from nearby cities like Salem, Coimbatore, Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai, Trichy, etc.

Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary covers a forest area of approximately 1400 square kilometers. This Wildlife Sanctuary is between the Eastern and Western Ghats and is a major link between these two. This helps in allowing gene flow between these Eastern and Western Ghats and thus helps in having diverse flora and fauna.

Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary is in the final stages of being declared “Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve”, pending approval and funding.  There could be anywhere between 19 to 25 tigers in this Wildlife Sanctuary, as per the forest department’s estimates.

Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary is a typical tropical dry forest. Trekking inside deep forests is available now covering a distance of 20 kilometers in 2 days. The trekking program starts early in the morning. Night camping is arranged inside the forest. Thengumarada is a halt for the next day afternoon. There is a great opportunity for sighting many wild animals like Wild boars, Elephants, Mangoose, Gaurs, Deer, and Monitor Lizards. If one is lucky, there is a chance of spotting Leopards or Tigers.

Sathyamangalam is well connected by roads to all parts of the state and to the rest of the country. National Highway NH209 passes through Satyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary.

Erode railway station, at 60 Kilometers distance, is the nearest railway station to Satyamangalam forests. Coimbatore Airport is the nearest airport to Satyamangalam.
