Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museums at Lonavala, Devgad & Thiruvanthapuaram

Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum is spread across three cities in India. The most popular one is at Lonavala, near Pune in Maharastra state. The second one is at Devgad, Maharastra state. The third one was one is at  Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala state. (Even though Sunil has earlier opened museums  at Kanyakumari  and Kochi, both were shut down over time.)

The first full-scale wax statue that Sunil made was that of the former Kerala chief minister K Karunakaran.  The second one was that of E.K. Nayanar, another former chief minister of Kerala.   Sunil read about E.K. Nayanar’s visit to a similar London museum, which inspired him to look into this unique art form.

Sunil’s full name is Sunil Kandalloor. He is a native of Kerala. His brothers Sujith and Subash are also involved in this venture.

Sunil says permission to start another museum inside the new Sardar Patel’s Statue Of Unity is obtained by him (the World’s largest Statue). It will be opened in due course.

Lonavala Wax Museum

Lonavala Museum has wax replicas of Indian & international celebrities. There are more than 100 statues at Lonavala Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum. Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Dalai Lama,  Harry Potter, Mr. Bean, etc., are a few of the wax statues here. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Swami Vivekananda,  Atal Bihari Vajpayee, M.F. Hussain, etc, are some of the leading Indians who have found a place in the museum. Wax statue of Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi is also seen here. It is located around six kilometers from Lonavala town.

Devgad Wax Museum

Devgad Wax Museum is situated near Ratnagiri town.   Indira Gandhi, Lionel Messi, and Superstar Rajnikant,  Ankush Choudhary, and Amruta Khanvilkar’s are among those on display here. The Statue of the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi is also on display here.  Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan are seen here. Marathi actors Swwapnil Joshi, Tejaswini Pandit, and Sai Tamhankar are also at this magnificent museum.

Thiruvananthapuram Wax Museum

Thiruvananthapuram Celebrity Wax Museum has 27 sculptures. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, Dadasaheb Phalke, Anna Hazare, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohanlal, Justice Krishna Iyer, Sree Narayana Guru, Raja Ravi Varma, MG Ramachandran, Rajanikath, etc.  Indian Prime Minister’s wax statue can also be seen here. Malayalam Actor Innocent, Vellapally Natesan, Mannathu Padmanabha Pillai, etc, are some of the other well-known Kerala faces in the museum in Kerala.

An upcoming addition includes that of the cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

2023 October November

The wax statue of Pope Francis was added to the museum in November 2023. The state tourism minister inaugurated Pope Francis’s statue.

Entry Fee to Sunil’s Celebrity Museums

Entry Fee to Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum is Indian rupees 100 (one hundred Indian rupees). Please check the entry fee with the authorities at your end, as they are subject to change. Group members, like school students, are eligible for special discounted rates.
