Bhangarh, the Haunted Historical City,  is famous for its historical ruined buildings and haunted houses. It has a population of around 1300 people, as per the last available data. The city was established in 1573 by Raja Bhagwant Das. The city was abandoned due to mysterious reasons. Bhangarh is said to have most Indian haunted houses, haunted because of cursing as believed by a section of historians.

If you plan to travel to India and know about India and are searching for the most haunted houses in the world, Bhangarh is one such place in India.

There are a few majestic temples, mosques, shops, and a palace among the ruins. Several Havelis (historical private mansions) also exist here. The city’s town planning, market system, castle hierarchy, etc, are noteworthy.

Bhangarh entry is allowed only during the daytime. Entry between sunset and sunrise is prohibited by law. It is believed that those who go there at night will never see the light of day. Local villagers claim that whenever a house is built there, its roof collapses.  Bhangarh is a mysterious, haunted city! You can play scary games and tell ghost stories to your friends and colleagues after a tour of these haunted houses. Are you feeling scared now?

Ramparts with 5 gates separate the town from the plains. Two theories revolve around this town.

One version goes like this.  Bhangarh is cursed by Guru Balu Nath, the person who sanctioned the construction of the town. He set a condition. If the shadows of the palaces touch me, the city shall be no more. Once, a princess extended her height, and thus, the town was devastated.

There is a second story that goes like this. A Tantrik called Singhia (a Magician specializing in black magic) fell in love with the beautiful Princess of Ratnavati of Bhangarh. He came to know that the princess was showered with marriage offers. Knowing that it is becoming impossible to marry the princess, he tried his black magic on the oil, that the princess’ maid purchased from the market. The plan was that the princess would surrender herself to him after touching the oil. Princess Ratnavati somehow realized the plan. She spoiled the plan of the Tantrik by pouring the oil into the ground. The oil while touching the ground had transformed into a boulder and killed the Tantrik. Dying Tantrik had cursed that whoever dwelt in the palace would not stay alive.
