Nagarhole National Park or Rajiv Gandhi National Park

Nagarhole National Park or Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Rajiv Gandhi was the former prime minister of India who was killed in a terrorist attack in the early ’90s)  is in the Kodagu District of Karnataka State in India.

This park is the 37th Project tiger reserve (Project to save Bengal Tigers) in India. It is part of the Nilgiri biosphere which is part of the larger Western Ghats. Leopards are also seen in this park.

Many people have spotted Tigers inside this park. Tiger safari is allowed inside the park. There are Tiger safari package tours available with many travel agents.

The Rajiv Gandhi National Park is very rich in forest cover. There are many streams and waterfalls in the area.

Commercial trees like sandalwood, rosewood, task, silver oak, etc, are found in large numbers in the Nagarhole National Park. Some conspicuous tree species such as Flame of the Forest, Golden shower tree, and Clumping bamboo are also found in these forests.

There many species of mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, which include endangered ones, are found in The Rajiv Gandhi National Park

There are many hotels and resorts in and around Nagarhole National Park. Orange County Resorts in Kabini, is a good resort (luxury resort) near the Nagarhole National Park, bordered by the Kabini River on two sides.
