Mangalore or Mangaluru is a port city on the Arabian Sea coast in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka state, India. Most coffee and cashew exports from India are through the port here.
St Aloysius Chapel (Church) was built in 1884. This Portuguese chapel is situated at Lighthouse Hill in the heart of the city. The chapel’s architecture is comparable to the chapels of Rome. Beautiful paintings adore every inch of the chapel. A national board of India preserves the church paintings.
Gokarnatheshwara Temple at Kudroli near Mangaluru is a famous temple here. This temple is also known as Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra. Gokarnanatha (Lord Shiva) is the deity here. The temple tower or ‘Gopuram’ has murals of Hindu gods and goddesses.
It was built in 1912. It is a two-kilometer distance from Mangalore town. This temple is revered among the Billava community.

Ullal Beach is a picturesque beach around 10 kilometers south of Mangalore (also known as Mangaluru), at Ullal Town. Dargah of Sayed Mohammed Shereful Madani is a nearby pilgrimage place for Muslims. He is believed to have come down to Ullan, around four centuries back.
