Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary across the Aravalli Range in Rajsamand District, Rajasthan, India.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of around 578 square kilometers. It is at an altitude of approximately 1,600 to 4,300 feet, above sea level.
This wildlife park is home to many species of animals and birds, including some of the highly endangered species of animals. Horseback safari and trekking packages are available with local tour operators.
This sanctuary is now undergoing an Asiatic Lion Reintroduction Project from 2009. Lion safari or Jeep safari is available here.
Fort & Palace
Ancient and Historic Kumbhalgarh Fort, the second largest fort wall in Rajasthan, is situated inside this Wildlife Sanctuary. Badal Mahal, or the Palace of the Clouds, is atop the fort here. This fort and the palace are the second most crucial citadel in the Mewar region, after Chittorgarh Fort. The King Rana Kumbha built it in the 15th century. The fort wall has a length of 36 kilometers.
This fort served as a refuge for the royals during strife. The legendary king Maharana Pratap was born in the palace inside this fort. This fort’s defense was breached only once by the combined army of the Mughals and the Amber alias Amer, during severe water scarcity.
Kumbhalgarh Festival 2022
A festival is being conducted from December 1st to December 3rd, 2022, at the Fort. As part of the festival, music maestro Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt used to conduct live performances there.
How Do I Go to Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary?
Most of the Tourists to this wildlife sanctuary come from Udaipur, known for its palaces, lakes, courtyards, and gardens. Udaipur is around 85 kilometers from Kumbhalgarh village, where the entry point to the Wildlife Sanctuary is located. There are other entry and exit points also.
Udaipur City railway station is a major station in Udaipur. Udaipur Airport or Dabok Airport alias Maharana Pratap Airport or Udaipur Airport or Dabok Airport is the airport on the outskirts of Udaipur city.
