Arrested by the Assam Rifles on charges of killing an Indian soldier, he didn’t deny it. Instead, he reportedly declared:
“Yes, I’ve killed more than one Indian soldier. When our women are raped, our people burned alive, shot down and brutally beaten — I cannot stand by in the name of non-violence.”
An Indian officer demanded he apologise. Sievizo refused, stating he could not apologise for something he did not believe was wrong. The officer blindfolded him and fired a shot — but not at his body. It was a warning: next time, the bullets would be real. Even then, Sievizo Siyie stood firm. Lacking sufficient evidence, they eventually released him.
