Srila Prabhupada established this society of the Hare Krishna movement, or ISKCON, as it is known, in 1967. He went to the United States and spread the message of Lord Krishna. He engaged people to chant the holy names of God Krishna, called ‘Hare Krishna Mantra’. ISKCON is not a hobby nor a religion; rather it’s a way of life to end suffering. He clarified that there should not be any hungry people around a ten-kilometre radius of the ISCON temple.

ISCON temple and the surrounding cultural complex at Bangalore is situated on a seven-acre hillock. The temple complex was inaugurated in 1997 by the then-President of India. The cost of this architectural wonder was 32 crores.
