Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry is a spiritual community of people established by Sri Aurobindo, at Pondicherry, Pondicherry State (Pondicherrry being a small state within the Tamilnadu state) of India.

After starting the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry, Sri Aurobindo left the management to his spiritual collaborator, The Mother, and continued with his spiritual teachings work.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Thousands of people visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram daily.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram follows a complete method of Integral Yoga to transform human nature into divine life. In Sri Aurobindo’s yoga, the highest goal is being one without renouncing life in the world. Sri Aurobindo and The Mother’s writings are practiced to achieve this goal.

Auroville is a city developed near Pondicherry, in the neighboring Villupuram district of Tamilnadu state, on the vision of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, dedicated to human unity where people of all countries can live in peace and harmony. The golden metallic crystal sphere in the Ashram is the largest in the world.

Aurobindo Society is a not-for-profit NGO working globally for the benefit of humanity on the principle of the Ashramam.

How Do I Go to Sri Aurobindo Ashram at Pondicherry?

Pondicherry, or Puducherry as it is officially called (or Pondy, its shortened affectionate name), is around 160 kilometers south of Chennai, the capital of Tamilnadu state. There are frequent bus services to Pondicherry from Chennai C.M.B.T Bus terminus in Koyembedu.

Pondicherry is well connected by the road network, train network, and airways. Indian Railway booking site, irctc.co.in, uses the code PDY for Pondicherry. (Puducherry in the site).

Pondicherry has got a small airport. Chennai is the nearest Major International Airport to Pondy, with flight connectivity to most parts of the world.
