There are two trekking routes to the holy place. One route is by trekking 13 kilometers from Hanuman Chatti. The second route is from Janki Chatti and the distance by this route is around 6 kilometers. Trekking route passes through many rivers and rivulets. Crossing Ruinsara Tal, a clear water lake at the foot of Mount Kalanag, takes you to the holy Shrine.

Yamunotri, where river Yamuna originates on the Bander Poonch Himalayan peaks, is accessible from Hanuman Chatti by road up to Janki Chatti (around 8 kilometers distance) and from there by trekking the 3.3 kilometers route which is well laid with railings on the side, which takes somewhere around 3 hours to trek.
