Vagamon Hill station, Asia’s Scotland, is in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Vagamon hill station was discovered by the British and is called the “Scotland of Asia”, for its climate.
This hill station is situated in the border areas of Kottayam and Idukki districts of Kerala. Wagamon hill station is known for its cool climate, all through the year. Famous christian pilgrimage center, “Kurisumala“, is at Wagamon. Thangal hills and Murugan hills are other famous tourist places for Muslims and Hindus at Wagamon.

Vagamon is gaining popularity as a leading Paragliding destination in south India. Those interested can go for paid paragliding at Vagamon. Fly Wagaon is the company which offers the service. It is situated at the hills of Kolahalamedu, 4 kilometers from Vagamon. Private vehicles needs to be parked near the entry gate, 1.5 kilometers ahead of the paragliding site. They pick you in their Jeep to the paragliding site. They offer the services all through the year, except during rainy season, for the last few years. Charges are rupees 3000 for paragliding and 500 for video copy. Conditions; age between 14-80 and weight 40 to 110 kg. Those who bring their own video recording devices like gopro and use that without charges.

Paragliding Grand Prix Vagamon 2019 is paragliding event which brings para-gliders from around the world. This year’s Vagamon paragliding festival 2019 is to be held at Vagamon in September 2019.
International Paragliding Festival 2018
International paragliding festival 2018 was held at Kolahalmedu, Vagamon from January 20th to February 18th, 2018. This mega event was organized by Kerala Tourism and Adventure Sports & Sustainable Tourism Academy. (Kerala tourism website says it is being held in April. How Do I Go to Vagamon Hill Station?
The ghat road from Teekoy near Erattupetta, offers the best road connectivity to Wagamon. This serpentine road goes through some of the most dangerous cliffs, which offers best view of the valley. There is a memorial for those workers who gave up their lives while constructing this road, near to the starting point of this road.
Wagamon is at a distance of around 40 kilometers from Thodupuzha and at around 65 kilometers from Kottayam. Kumaly is at 45 kilometers distance from Wagamon. Wagamon is at a distance of 25 kilometers from Peermede town.
Kottayam Railway station is the nearest railway station to Vagamon hill station, at around 65 kilometers distance. Cochin international airport at Nedumbraseery, is the nearest airport to Wagamon hill station, at around 125 kilometers distance from this famous hill station.
