Kodachadri is in Shomoga district of Karnataka state in India, Kodachadri forms the picturesque background for one of the most famous temples in India, the Kollur Mookambika temple. Kodachadri lies in the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary.

Kodachadri is the highest peak in Karnataka state at a height of 1343 meters. It is part of the Western Ghats and is declared as a heritage site by the Government of Karnataka. “Kodacha” or “Kodashi” means hill of Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica) flowers . The flower name in Sanskrit and Hindi are Kutaja, Vatsaka and Kalinga.

Arashinagundi falls and Hidlumane falls are two famous waterfalls inside the forests of Kodachadri and the areas in and around Kudajadri are rich in flora and fauna. There is a sunrise point from where the breathtaking view of the rising sun is visible. ‘Mookambika Road railway station’ is the nearest railway station (at Baindur alias Byndur Town) at around 30 kilometers distance from the temple, with station code BYNR (for booking in Indian railways online booking system web site).  Mookambika Road railway station alias Byndur railway station comes after around one hour’s journey from Upudi. It takes a little longer than 2.5 hours by train to reach this station from Mangaluru Junction Railway station.
