Aharbal Waterfall is a beautiful falls in Kulgam district, in Jammu & Kashmir state of India.

The fall is known as the ‘Niagara of Kashmir’. Aharbal falls lies on Veshu river, a tributary of River Jhelum. The falls is in an Alpine valley famous for its pine & fir trees and the area is part of the “Pir Panjal mountains”.

Aharbal town is famous for Adventure tourism. Veshu river is rich in Trouts and fishing permit needs to be taken for the tourists to go for fishing here. The area is famous for trekking also. Other activities includes Horseback riding, skiing and photography.

How Do I Go to Aharbal Waterfalls?

The falls is situated at around 65 kilometers south of Srinagar. Its at a distance of 8 kilometers from the Mughal Road, which connects Srinagar with Poonch. Srinagar is connected to other parts of India and rail, road and flights. Awantipora railway station is the nearest railway station at around 25 kilometers away. Srinagar is the nearest major railway station. There is an International airport at Srinagar; Sheikh ul Alam Airport.

The falls is at around 18 kilometers south of Shopian, the nearest town. Kulgam town is at around 28 kilometers away.

Lachung is a beautiful hill station at an altitude of 9,600 feet or 2,900 meters in North Sikkim district, India, bordering Nepal.

Lachung means ‘small pass’. This Himalayan town which is known for its Himalayan beauty, lies at the confluence of the river Lachen and River Lachung, tributaries of River Teesta. October to May is the tourist season here. Lachung Monastery and Yumthang Valley are the main tourist attractions here. Yumthang Valley has beautiful flowers and hence known as valley of flowers. (This valley of flowers is not the same as the Valley of Flowers National Park in Chamoli District of Utterakhand state). Rhododendron flowers are the most famous flower here.

The hill station is covered with snow during winter season. Lachung is the base camp to Rhododendron Valley, famous for trekking, from Yumthang Valley to Lachen Valley. Srinagar, the Paradise on Earth, is one of the leading Tourist destinations in India and has much to offer to the tourists. The valley is surrounded by Himalayas on all sides. Climate is mild cold in summer and near zero degrees in winter months, with occasional moderate to heavy snowfall. The avalanches in winter may block the road connecting Srinagar with the rest of India.
