Lonavla is a major railway station where all trains stop on the Mumbai – Pune railway line. The trains coming from Mumbai will stop at Karjat, the station before Lonavla, and a second engine is added to pull the train through the steep western ghats to reach Lonavala where the extra engine is removed and train continues its journey from here with the regular single engine.
The nearest Airport is Pune International Airport at 64 kilometers away. Mumbai Chatrapaji Sivaji International airport is at 104 kilometers away. The near by city of Aamby Valley has its own private airport.
