Kanyakumari alias Cape Comorin is the southern-most tip of the Indian Peninsula in Tamilnadu state.

Three Seas Converge here at  Cape Comorin. That is to say, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal converge here.  Thrivenisangamam is the point where the three seas converge.  Therefore, it is a famous pilgrimage center for Hindus.

Suchindram temple and Bhagavathy temple are two nearby famous temples in Kanyakumari.

In Kanyakumari, you can see sunrise and sunset on two different Seas. You can view Sunrise on the Bay of Bengal.  You can view Sunset on  the Arabian Sea. That is to say, just turn to two different directions to see this rare sight.

Certainly, Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the most famous tourist attraction here. Vivekananda  Memorial is on a Rock island, at around 500 meters from mainland. Rock memorial is connected by ferry services from the mainland. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes boat journey to reach Vivekananda rock memorial by ferry. It was built in 1970 in memorial of the Great Indian Spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda swan to this rock and meditated here and attained enlightenment here.

133 feet high, 7000 ton, Tiruvalluvar Statue is situated at another rock island, very close to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. It was opened on First day of January,  2000. Thiruvalluvar was a Great ancient Tamil poet and saint, who wrote Thirukural. Certainly,  Thirukural is the most famous work by Thiruvalluvar.

Mahatma Gandhi memorial is another famous tourist destination here. In short, Cape Comorin is an important tourist destination in South India.

How Do I Go to Kanyakumari, Cape Comorin?

National Highway 44 connects Cape Comorin to Srinagar. This highway is incidentally the longest National highway in India. NH 66 connects cape with Panavel (on the outskirts of Mumbai).  NH 47  connects Salem with  Kanyakumari.

Kanyakumari is a major terminal Railway Junction.  Trains to major  cities of India like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkotta, etc, are available from this station.

Thiruvananthapuram International airport is the nearest airport to Cape Comorin at 86 kilometers away. Madurai airport is at 243 kilometers away from Cape Comorin.

What are the Nearby Places to Visit in Kanyakumari?

Vattakottai, an Ancient Fort, Pechipparai dam, Thottipalam, Thirparappu Falls, Padmanabhapuram palace, Suchindrum Sthanumalayan temple and Muttom beach are some of the nearby  tourist places. You can visit all these tourist places by taking the circular bus service of the Tamil Nadu state government transport department.
