The lush green forests in and around Konni, Kerala, India, is a heaven for wild elephants. An elephant training center is there to take care of training of the this wild beast of the forest.

There are huge wooden cages made of Hopea paliflora woods (Kambakam woods) to house elephants. Each cage can accommodate 3-4 elephants. Baby elephants which roam in the forests, or those which are wounded or those separated from their herd are brought here and tamed. Visitors are allowed to go near those tamed elephants and observe them closely. Mischievous Baby elephants are popular among the tourists to Konnai Elephant training center. In the past, Konni elephant training center was used to house wild elephants from forests, to be tamed and trained for work.

Adavi Eco Tourisum at around 7 kilometers from here offers boat ride facilities in coracles(‘Kutta Vanchi’ in local language of Malayalam) for tourists. The most scenic route to Gavi is from Pathanamthiitta.
