Lavasa is a planned hill station city spread over 100 square kilometers in private sector near to Pune, on the lines of Portofino, an Italian town.

Lavasa hill station near Pune is located on the Mulshi valley, part of Western Ghats. A total of seven hills are there in the planned city hill station. Two planned towns are in progress out of the total of 5 towns. Many residences, hotels and city center are complete.

Manchester City branded football academy and a golf course are part of the planned city. A Theme park is also part of the project. There is a plan to have a University also in this city.

This city on 25,000 acre of land is not yet complete and it has run into controversies ranging from environmental to corruption.

Ranikhet hill station is situated in the western peaks of the Himalayas, at an altitude of 1,869 meters (6,132 feet), in Almora district of Uttarakhand state , India. Military Hospital (Army Hospital), Naga regiment & Kumaon Regiment of Indian Army are situated here.

In 186, Kumaon Regiment’s head quarters was established here. Long long back, Nepalese ruled Ranikhet and the Kumaonese people got freedom in 1816, with the British help.

The hill station is rich in Flora and Fauna. Pine, deodar, oak, etc. dots the forests of Ranikhet. Many a wild animals, birds and Reptiles also lives in the forests of the Ranikhet Hill Station.

At around Five kilometers from the Ranikhet city, there is a 9-hole Golf Course. This is among the highest golf courses in Asia and is a prime attraction here.

There is an urban jungle theme park for children, in the town. Boating is allowed at Rani Jheel. There are daily Air India Regional (previously known as Alliance Air) flights from Pantnagar to New Delhi. Many a times, the bad weather prevents flight operations here in Pantnagar. Nainital Lake District of Uttarakhand, which is also a hill station, is at around 60 kilometers distance.

Laxmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara (Baroda), Gujarat, India is the largest dwelling unit in the world built till date. Laxmi Vilas Palace Vadodara is of four times the size of Buckingham Palace, London. The entire Palace complex initially covered an area of 700 acres or 2.8 square kilometers, which now covers an area of around 500 acres. Laxmi Vilas Palace also has the only golf course in a palace complex in the world.

Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara was constructed by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Gaekwad dynasty of the Marathas in 1890 and is named after the Queen Laxmibai Chimnabai I. Laxmi Vilas Palace Vadodara is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Top Floors of the Vadodara Laxmi Vilas Palace was the home to the Seven members of Royal family of Badora. The Baroda Royal family has moved from the Laskshmi Vilas Palace and the palace is now converted into Laxmi Vilas Palace Heritage hotel. A portion of the Palace complex can be visited by the general public. The Palace grounds are let out for events like Weddings. There is also a Museum; Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum; in the Palace complex, which has a large collection of paintings from the great artist, Raja Ravi Varma.

There is miniature railway line which connects the Museum to the main Lakshmi Vilas Palace. Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum was constructed initially as a school for the children of the Royal family, which was later converted into a Museum. The train engine is currently kept at the entrance of the Museum.

Notable among other buildings in the complex is the Moti Baug Palace. There is also the remains of a Zoo. Makarpura Palace, another notable building in the complex, which currently houses a defense installation. Pratap Vilas Palace, another main building in the Laxmi Vilas Palace complex, is now home to the National Academy of Indian Railways (formerly known as Railway Staff College of India).
