Valparai Hill Station is at a height 3500 feet above sea level on the Anamalai hills of Western Ghats in the Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu state, India.

Valparai is an exotic non-polluted weekend getaway tourist place, which is a must-see place for any tourist in India. Valparai has tea and coffee plantations, which forms a major source of income for the people of this hills.

Valaprai’s history dates back to the mid eighteenth century when the area was planted with coffee by Ramasamy Mudaliyar in 1846. W Wintil and Nordan ,assisted the well known planter Carwer Marsh, plated coffee and tea in the hills of Valparai in the year 1890. Carwer Marsh is known as “The Father of Anamalais” and his statue is there in the Kavarkal Estate, Valparai.

Monkey falls, Parambikulam Tiger reserve, Sholayar Dam and Aliyar dam are some of the nearby Valparai tourist places.

How Do I Go to Valparai Hill Station

Valparai Hill Station is at a distance of around 100 kilometers from Coimbatore in Tamilnadu. Pollachi town is at a distance of 65 kilometers from Valparai. It takes around one and a half hours drive from Pollachi to reach Valaprai hills.

Valparai is connected by ghat road to other parts of the country. There are 40 hair pin bends on the road to Valpari. Aliyar Dam and its catchment areas can be as seen from hairpin bend number 9, which is a beautiful sight.

Those who likes adventurous travel can go to Aathirapalli falls near Chalakudi in Kerala state which is at a distance of 130 kilometers from Valparai hills. Road travel through this route is possible only during the day, between 9 am and 6 pm. The path is home to many wild animals, which you may be able to spot on your journey through this ghat road. The journey takes up to 4 hours!

Coimbatore Junction, with railway station code CBE, is the nearest convenient railway station for a tourist to Valparai hills. Coimbatore airport is the nearest airport to Valparai hill station.
