Har Ki Doon Valley is a hanging valley in the state of Uttarakhand. Har Ki Doon Valley is part of Garhwal Himalayas, which has become a Trekker’s paradise.

Har-Ki-Doon valley is rich in flora, especially the Alpine forests. Borasu pass connects HarKiDoon Valley to the Bapsa valley.

Trekking tour to Har Ki Doon Valley normally starts at Sankri / Taluka. Seema a beautiful meadow on the banks of Supin river, serves as the overnight camping place. Seema is at around 15 km from Taluka (at 27 km from Sankri ), en-route to HarKi-Doon valley, On your trekking path from Seema to Har Ki Doon Valley, you come across some of the best scenery in the world. Himalayan peaks, gurgling streams, green meadows, dense forests, crystal clear waters, ridges, …. the list is endless; which makes this route an ultimate paradise for any trekker. Har Ki Doon Valley is at around 3.55 km from Seema, which may take anywhere between 5 to 7 hours to trek.

Hanuman Chatti, Yamunotri , another Nearby Popular Trekking Destinations

Hanuman Chatti, the place where Hanuman Ganga and Yamunotri rivers confluence is another nearby trekking location. There are guest houses in Hanuman Chatti for the tourists.

Yamunotri, where river Yamuna originates on the Bander Poonch Himalayan peaks, is accessible from Hanuman Chatti by road up to Janki Chatti (around 8 km distance) and from there by trekking the 3.3 km route which is well laid with railings on the side, which takes somewhere around 3 hours to trek. Yamunotri is one among the pilgrimage places in the ‘Char Dham pilgrimage tours‘, which is famous among Indian pilgrims. There are a few hot water springs in this area where temperature of the water is well above its boiling point. Surya Kund is one such famous spring. You can get your rice and potato cooked by immersing them in this lake waters!

Which is the access point to Har Ki Doon Valley, Trekker’s Paradise?

Sankri / Taluka serves as the starting point for Har Ki Doon Valley trekking packages. You can go from Dehradun (the nearest major city) to Purola by bus. At Purola, you need to catch a local bus to Sankri. If your trekking tour starts from Taluka, you can hire a jeep for the twelve kilometer Sankri-Taluka travel.

Dehradun is the nearest airport for those traveling by air.

Sankri is at 155 kms or 96 miles from Mussorrie in Himachal Pradesh state, another nearby famous tourist destination.

Jagannath Puri Temple, the famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, is located in the coastal town of Puri in the state of Odisha (formerly known as Orissa), India.

Jagannath  means ‘Lord of the Universe’ in  Sanskrit. Puri Jagannath Temple is important particularly to the worshipers of Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu. Puri Jagannath Temple is part of the ‘Char Dham‘ pilgrimage (char means Four in Hindi langage) that a Hindu is expected to make in one’s lifetime. The four  Hindu temples in char Dham package tour are Rameswaram, Badrinath, Dwarka and this temple at Puri.

The temple is sacred to the Vaishnavites. The annual Puri Rath Jathra or Chariot Festival, since medieval times, is very famous and attracts millions of devotes. The three main deities, Jagannath, Balabhadra and the goddess Subhadra, are taken as procession in this festival. This annual procession is also called as Gundicha Jatra or Ghosa Jatra or Dasavatara Jatra or Dasavatara Jatra and by many other names.

Entry Restrictions at Jagannath Puri Temple

Practicing Hindus of non-Indian descent and Hindus of non-Indian origin are excluded from entering the temple premises. Those who are denied entry can view God Jagannath from the roof of the nearby Raghunandan Library at the main entrance to the temple.

How do I go to Jagannath Puri Temple

Puri is an important terminus in the railway stations in India, one km north of the town. There are direct trains to most parts of India from Puri. The railway station code for Puri is ‘PURI’ on the website of Official railway ticket booking site, irctc.co.in.

There are direct bus services to Kolkotta, Visakhapatnam and many other cities. Frequent buses are there to nearby cities of  Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Cycle rickshaws are available. You can hire a bicycle or a motor cycle and go around the city.

Bhubaneswar airport is the nearest airport at 60 kilometers away.
