Palaruvi Falls is a beautiful water fall at Aryankavu in Kollam district, Kerala state, very close to the Tamilnadu border.
Palaruvi Falls is a single drop, horsetail type waterfall, which is the 32nd highest waterfall in India, with a height of 91 meters or 299 feet.
How do I go to Palaruvi Falls?
Aryankavu town, from where the falls is accessible, is connected to the rest of the country by NH 744; Kollam- Thirumangalam (Madurai) National Highway.
Sengottai is the nearest town with Railway connectivity at around 31 kilometers distance from Aryankadu. If you are traveling to the Palaruvi Falls from Kerala, Punalur town is the nearest major town. There is Broad gauge railway station at Punalur, which is at a distance of around 35 kilometers from the falls. Kerala state goverment buses on the ghat road from Punalur to Shengottai, passes near to the falls.
There is a railway station at Aryankadu, which is closed now, for gauge conversion work. i.e. To convert the existing meter gauge railway track to broad gauge railway track. The gauge conversion work got delayed due to the terrain of the area. There is a railway tunnel called “Kottavasal”, measuring 680 meters, i.e. 2,230 feet in length, which starts at Aryankavu in Kerala and ends at Puliyara in Tirunelveli district of Tamilnadu.
Kollam (alias Quilon) is at around 75 kilometers from the Palaruvi Falls. Kerala’s capital city of Thiruvananthapuram is at a distance of around 150 kilometers from the falls at Palaruvi .
