Ranthambore National Park is in the ‘Sawai Madhopur’ district of Rajasthan, 130 kilometers away from the capital city of Jaipur.

Ranthambore National Park was started as a game conserve in the mid 50’s and was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1973. It was declared as a National Park of India in 1980.  This National Park is regarded as one of the largest National parks in the whole of North India.

A significant feature of this park is the ‘Great Boundary Fault’, wherein, the Vindhaya plateau meets the Aravali range.

Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary is rich for its Tiger reserve and you may spot them even in day time here. This wildlife sanctuary has many other beasts of the jungle including leopard, bear, etc. It is rich in flora also.

Ranthambhore National Park is home to many reptiles, mammals,etc. 270 different species of birds are found here in the National park.

There are three big lakes inside the reserve; There is a a tenth century fort, Ranthambore Fort, inside the Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary.

How Do I Go to Ranthambore National Park?

The nearest city and railway station is at Sawai Madhopur, about 11 kilometers away. Kota is a  major railway station at about 110 kilometers north east of the National Park. Many trains stops at Kota.

The capital city of Jaipur is also conveniently located at 130 kilometers distance. Jaipur has the International Airport connecting the rest of the world with Rajasthan.

What are the Timings of Ranthambore National Park?

Ranthambore National Park strictly follows the timing of opening its gates half hour before sunrise and closing the gates half hour after sunset.  The park is closed during the months of July, August and September.
