Chitrakote Falls

Chitrakote Falls is in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state in India. It is also spelt as Chitrakot, Chitrakut and Chitrakoot. It is known as the Niagara Falls of India, as it is the broadest waterfall in India.

Chitrakut Falls is amid dense forests in the Indravathi River, a tributary of River Narmada. The height of the fall is around 93 feet.

The breadth of the Indian Niagara Falls varies according to seasons and is the maximum during monsoon season when it sounds wild. In the summer season, Chitrakut Falls’s width decreases drastically. The color of the fall also changes with the season. Chitrakote Falls is slit colored during monsoon and is clear during the summer season.

Chitrakoot is also a Hindu pilgrimage place; hence, short dresses are not advisable.

Many Ayurvedic practitioner clinics are found near the horse-shoe-shaped Chitrakoot Falls. Tirathgarh Waterfalls is also in the same district.

Chitrakote Falls is around 50 kilometers from Jagdalpur, which is very well connected to the rest of the state. Visakhapatnam is approximately 350 kilometers from Chitrakoot Falls.
