Pauri is a hill station town situated at an altitude of around 1,814 meters in Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand state, India. The town offers excellent view of the snow-covered Himalayan mountains.
Himalayan mountain peaks like Nanda Devi, Trisul, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Kharcha Kund, Chaukhamba, etc, can be seen from here. You can trek to nearby Deodar or pine forests and listen to the chirping of birds.
This city and surrounding areas offers much to paragliding, trekking and adventure sports. Chaukhamba View Point is at around 5 kilometers from Pauri. Tara Kund, the highest tourist spot in Pauri, is at an altitude of 2250 meters.
Kandoliya Temple, Hanuman Mandir, Nag Dev Mandir, Kyunkaleshwar Temple, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Sita Mata Temple, etc, are some of the temples here. More than 100 year old Methodist Church is there at Chopra. Catholic Church is there at Gadoli.
How Do I Go to Pauri?
Pauri town is connected to other parts of the country by NH 119. Buses are available to other cities of the state. There are regular buses from New Delhi to Kotdwar and Pauri.
Kotdwar railway station at around 100 kilometers distance, is the nearest major railway station, which is well connected with other major cities of the country. Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun is the nearest airport at 155 kilometers distance.
