Kashipur is a historic city dating back to the emperor Harshavardhana’s period who reigned during 606-647 AD. It is situated at Udham Singh Nagar district ,Uttarakhand state, India.
This historic city was known as Govishan, during the preiod of emperor Harshavardhana or Harsha. The Great Chinese Traveler, Monk, scholar, and translator, Yuan-Chwang, on his seventeen year long visit to India, visited this place. The ruins of the buildings and other structures of those days are still to be seen near to this historic city. Ruins of the ancient 6th century Panchayatan temple can be seen at Kashipur.
The city is named after Kashinath Adhikari. He was the governor of the region under the Kumaon Dynasty and is the founder of the current township which was laid in the 16th century.
Kashipur is now an important industrial township. HCL Technologies, Flexituff International Ltd, Videocon Pasupati Arcylon Limited, IGL, etc, are located here. Many Paper and sugar mills are also located here. The city is now famous for its seed plants, supplying High quality seeds to the country.
Army public school is situated at Hempur, Kashipur, at around 15 kilometers distance from the town.

Kashipur is well connected by roads. NH 74 and NH 121 passes through the city. The city is connected to all major nearby cities like major cities Bajpur, Bareilly, Delhi, Gadarpur, Haldwani, Jaspur, Moradabad, Nainital, Ramnagar, Rudrapur, etc, by roads.
Kashipur Junction railway station connects the city with the rest of the country by rail network. Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport at around 72 kilometers away. New Delhi International airport is at around 215 kilometers distance from this town.
