Mussorie Hill Station is on the foothills of the Himalayan ranges. Lal Tibba, the highest point in Mussorie Hill Station is at a height of 7,510 feet (2,290 meter) above sea level. ‘Nahata Estate’ in Lal Tibba is where the highest point of Mussorie is actually located. This is a 300 acre private property, which you can visit by walk or on a horse ride. View of the snow-clad Himalayan Mountains from Nahata Estate is a real treat to the eyes!
Mussoorie is known as called ‘Mansoori’. The name Mussorrie is believed to be derived from the word ‘ mansoor’, an indigenous shrub found in this area.
“Camel’s Back Road” is famous among tourists for leisure walking. This road looks like a camel’s hump and hence the name Camel’s Back Road”. Other famous stretch for walkers is the ” the Mall” road, from the Picture Palace in the eastern side to the Public Library in the western side. St Mary’s Church, the oldest of the Christian churches in the Himalayan region, is located above the Mall Road. “Gun Hill”, the 2nd highest point in Mussoorie, where a cannon was used in olden days to sound-out midday, can be accessed by cable car from the Mall road.
Kempty Falls, Company Garden, Happy Valley (where the First Tibetan temple is situated) are some of the other places of tourist interest.
“Municipal Garden”, a garden cum boat house, offers boating facilities. Mussoorie Lake, on the way from Dehradun to Mussoorie hill station, also offers boating facilities.
Bhatta Falls, Jharipani Falls, Mossy Falls, Lake Mist, etc, are some of the other tourist destinations at Mussoorie.

The 14th Dalai Lama (the current Dalai Lama), Tenzin Gyatso, established ‘Central Tibetan Administration‘ (Tibetan Government in exile) at Musssorrie in 1959. Central Tibetan Administration shifted their office to McLeodGanj, Dharamshala in 1960.
