Gateway of India is one of the most recognized structures built during the British regime at Mumbai Alias Bombay (old name) in Maharastra State of India. Its the most famous landmark in Mumbai.

Gateway of India is a 85 feet high arch on the harbor in Mumbai. It was initially constructed for fishing boats which was later converted to receive prominent people including British Viceroys and Governors, which was the first structure visible, those days for any visitor by sea. It is one of the most famous historical place in Mumbai.

Gateway of India was made to commemorate the landing of their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunde in the early 19th century. Construction of Mumbai gate which began in 1911 was completed in 1924.
